この映像は、2022年3月21日に東京・北千住BUoYにて披露されたKOKENSHOW×DAIMARUの作品「奇妙に美しい内側を垣間見る」~A glimpse of the strangely beautiful inside~の記録映像である。彼らは、この即興のインスタレーションパフォーマンスを4時間を通して、その場限りで創りあげた。
今回の会場は１つの大きな空間ではあるが、おおまかに３つの領域に分かれている。
プロジェクションされた映像のみを観ることができる場、濱 大二郎によるフィジカルでのライブペイントとShoichiによる生のピアノ演奏が行われている場、アーティスト５人が横並びに映像を観ながら制作をするコックピットとその後ろから俯瞰する鑑賞者たちの場。空間全体に響く音も、居る場所によって聴こえ方も様々である。これらの領域の連なりは、その場に居る鑑賞者たちに、この作品をどこから観るのか、どこで感じるのかを委ねるように構成されている。その鑑賞行為が何に対して、どれに対して行われるかで、思考が変化する。また、鑑賞するという行為を受けて、鑑賞される対象(アーティスト・作品)に与える変化もある。
人の感覚は不思議なもので、そこに同時多発的にあるものを選択して見たり聞いたりすることができる。絵や映像に着目すると聴こえる音が変化する、音に耳を澄ませば、視覚が変化してくる。その場に居合わせた人々や空間、会話に焦点を合わせることもあるだろう。選ぶものは人それぞれであり、そこから感じること考えることは多種多様である。この作品を通して、鑑賞者たちは自身の内側に、この場に居たからこそ生まれた何かを垣間見ることができたのではないだろうか。そして、彼らアーティストたちも垣間見たものがあるだろう。ここで生まれたものが、また次の機会へと繋がっていく。

◯ KOKENSHOW×DAIMARU
KOKENSHOWは、様々なジャンルで独自のDJスタイルを築き、時代の先端を走り続けるDJ KENSEIと、京都で活動する電子音楽家・サウンドエンジニアのKND、鍵盤奏者・コンポーザーのShoichi Murakamiの三人で構成される。それぞれの経験から抽出される感覚的で原初的なサウンドは、過去・現在・未来の様々なシーンやその残像、匂いを感じさせる。
DAIMARUは、オランダのデン・ハーグを拠点に活動するアーティストの濱 大二郎と京都で活動する映像作家Masato Tokumaruによるビジュアルユニット。大二郎によって即興的に生み出されるドローイングやペインティングをライブで空間に投影しながら、Tokumaruが様々な素材やエフェクトを用いながら、映像上で混ぜ合わせ展開していく。
５人それぞれの分野から生まれる多言語的な表現の間で呼応するコミュニケーションを通じて、その場に居合わせた鑑賞者たちをも巻き込みながら、時間と空間を共有して作品を創り上げていく。
This video is a documentary video of KOKENSHOW x DAIMARU's work "A glimpse of the strangely beautiful inside" that was shown at Kitasenju BUoY in Tokyo on March 21, 2022. We created this live installation in 4 hours. It was improvisation performance and became to interactive installation.
The venue was one large space, but it was roughly divided into three areas.
One was a place where only projected images can be seen, 2nd space was where Daijiro Hama performed live physical painting and a live piano performance by Shoichi and third space was a cockpit where five artists worked side by side. The viewers could also watch from behind cockpit. The sound that resonated throughout the space also varied depending on where you were. The sequence of these areas was structured in such a way as to entrust the viewers present with the work from where they see it and feel this work. Thinking changed depending on what and where the appreciation act was performed. In addition, there was a change in the object (artist/work) being appreciated in response to the act of appreciating.
Human senses are mysterious, and we can choose to see and hear things that occur simultaneously. If you focus on a picture or video, the sound you hear will change, and if you listen carefully to the sound, your vision will change. It may also focus on the people, spaces, or conversations that were present. What you choose is up to you, and what you feel and think from there is diverse. Through this work, viewers may have been able to catch a glimpse of something that was born from being in this place inside themselves. And those artists will also have a glimpse. What was born here will lead to the next opportunity.
